About Me

For the duration of the Covid-19 outbreak, I am able to offer video counselling sessions via Zoom which is secure, easy for you to access and as near to face-to-face meeting as we can get.  I have undertaken brief, additional training for this so that I am prepared to meet your needs at this worrying time as best as I can.

I am Kathryn Harriss, a BACP Accredited counsellor and therapist for adults and young people.  I have been fully qualified for over 5 years.  I have an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling & Therapy as well as a Diploma in Counselling Children & Adolescents.

Regardless of age, gender or background, sometimes, we all need a little support from speaking to someone whom we don't know but is experienced in listening helpfully. Often, I can help clients to throw light onto and expand upon something which, on the surface, seems unimportant. A situation described as 'by the way' might be one we think is not in our power to change.  However, through deeper exploration of the situation can mean it becomes less powerful, something we can move on from so that we are on our way, not standing helplessly, by it.

My integrative model of working allows me to draw on a range of different approaches.  Some clients are more suited to short-term solution-focussed therapy whilst others are looking for longer-term  work.  Ultimately, I am able to adapt and tailor the way I work according to your needs.  The therapeutic relationship is key and there's no such thing as saying or feeling the 'wrong' thing in counselling. Like all good counsellors, I have undergone my own therapy so I know how important it is to feel safe.  I provide a non-judgemental and confidential space to explore your feelings.

As an Accredited Registered Member of the BACP, I work to their Ethical Framework and of course, I am fully insured and hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate.
